Steve Harvey Crowns The Wrong Miss Universe

He first announced Olivia Jordan: Miss USA as the third runner-up. Harvey ended up naming Miss Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo as the winner demoting Miss Philippines: Pia Alonzo Wurzbach as the second runner up.

After Arevalo received the crown and flowers, Harvey announced that he made a mistake and that Miss Philippines is the actual winner apologizing to everybody there that he made an unforgettable error.

“Nobody feels worse about this than me,” Harvey mentioned on how he felt about it.

Harvey went on to apologize on social media to tell everyone how sorry he really felt.

Miss Universe Wurtzbach felt really bad and apologized on behalf of everyone. She said: “I did not take the crown from her,” and that “none of this was my fault.” Also she added: “None of this was done on purpose. It was an honest mistake,” Harvey asked her to just enjoy the moment.

In a video posted on twitter handle of Miss Universe, Wurtzbach was shown laughing on the whole episode and saying: “It’s a very non-traditional crowning moment, isn’t it? It’s very, very 2015.”

Aravelo was seen wiping away her tears while she said: “Everything happens for a reason, so I’m happy for all [that] I did, Thank you for voting for me. Thank you…”

The Miss Universe went on to clear the matter and wrote:

“The excitement of live TV was evident tonight on The Miss Universe stage with over 10 million live fan votes tabulated. Unfortunately, a live telecast means that human error can come into play. We witnessed that tonight when the wrong winner was initially announced. Our sincerest apologies to Miss Universe Colombia 2015, Ariadna Gutierrez-Arévalo, Miss Universe Philippines 2015, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, their families and fans.”
