OpenAI Updates ChatGPT with Feature to Import Files from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive

The latest news from OpenAI reveals that the company has enhanced its renowned large language model (LLM) chatbot, ChatGPT, by introducing a new feature that enables users to import files directly from external cloud drives such as Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.

This new capability is exclusive to paying subscribers of ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise versions and is accessible when utilizing the newly introduced GPT-4o model, which was unveiled by OpenAI earlier this week.

Users can easily locate this feature by clicking on the small paper clip icon situated to the left of the text entry bar at the bottom of the default ChatGPT interface on desktop devices.

OpenAI has released an animated video demonstrating the workflow involved in utilizing this feature on its blog and X account.

In order to leverage this feature, users are required to grant permission from their Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive accounts. Once granted, users have the ability to select various file types, including spreadsheets, presentations, and documents, and import them directly into ChatGPT.

Moreover, OpenAI has updated the ChatGPT interface to facilitate viewing spreadsheet files in a full-screen mode and engaging with an interactive interface that displays any modifications made to the file in real-time using the AI model. Furthermore, users can download a copy of the updated file directly from the ChatGPT interface.

According to OpenAI, users can now customize and interact with various chart types such as bar, line, pie, and scatter plot charts within the conversation. Users can hover over chart elements, ask additional questions, choose colors, and subsequently download the modified charts for use in presentations or documents.

For users concerned about privacy, OpenAI assures in its blog that they do not utilize data from ChatGPT Team and Enterprise customers for training purposes. Additionally, ChatGPT Plus users have the option to opt-out of training through the Data Controls available in the settings menu.

Although this update represents a feature enhancement, it holds significant value for individuals utilizing ChatGPT for document-related tasks, as it is expected to streamline workflows, save time, and provide users with more flexibility when interacting with the chatbot.
