Venom: The Last Dance Trailer Unleashed
While all eyes were on the potential Marvel Cinematic Universe saviors, Deadpool and Wolverine, and the standalone Joker movie outside the DC Extended Universe, another comic book film quietly made its presence known. “Venom: The Last Dance” is set to hit theaters later this year, and its first trailer has just been released, promising an action-packed thrill ride.
The previous installments, “Venom” (2018) and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021), were met with mixed reviews from critics. Despite this, they were well-received by audiences, leading to significant box office success for Sony Pictures. The first film grossed over $850 million worldwide, while the sequel surpassed the $500 million mark, showing the popularity of the anti-hero character.
However, other films within this shared universe, such as ‘Morbius’ and ‘Madame Web,’ failed to impress both critics and audiences. With ‘Kraven the Hunter’ set for release in December, it seems that Venom is the standout character capable of carrying the franchise forward, despite mediocre scripts and editing.
A New Direction for Venom
Directed and written by Kelly Marcel, “Venom: The Last Dance” appears to be more focused and committed to exploring the relationship between Eddie Brock and Venom, a central theme in the series. The trailer hints at a darker storyline, with an impending alien threat and the military pursuing the duo in Mexico.
One scene in the trailer shows Venom taking control of a horse, adding a touch of comic book flair to the film’s tone. The use of David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’ in the soundtrack enhances the cosmic feel of the movie, as Venom faces a world-threatening challenge.
Tom Hardy reprises his role as Eddie Brock/Venom, joined by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, and Stephen Graham in various roles. “Venom: The Last Dance” is set to premiere on Oct. 25, 2024, promising fans an epic conclusion to the trilogy.
