The yearly Humans to Mars Summit is currently ongoing, uniting members of the global space community with the aim of establishing a sustainable and enduring human presence on Mars. This event is a pivotal gathering where attendees converge in Washington, D.C. for the 2024 Humans to Mars Summit (H2M), organized by the nonprofit entity Explore Mars. The conference, available for both physical and virtual attendance, commences on Tuesday (May 7) with an inaugural discussion panel centered on the innovative technologies that will facilitate human missions to the moon and Mars.
Chris Carberry, Explore Mars’ CEO, expressed the enduring success of the H2M conference in facilitating dialogues on sustaining human presence on Mars. Moreover, he highlighted the event’s restructuring this year to enhance both the physical and virtual experiences of the week’s proceedings, underscoring the organization’s commitment to advancing conversations on interplanetary exploration.
The 2024 Summit Agenda
The H2M summit, hosted at the Jack Morton Auditorium at George Washington University, features a distinguished lineup of speakers discussing recent achievements in space exploration, future plans to launch astronauts to Mars by the mid-2030s, and the potential challenges inherent in this ambitious endeavor. J.R. Edwards, Explore Mars’ president, emphasized the transformative power of exploratory ventures in fostering innovation, technological advancements, and overall societal progress.
Among the array of industry experts slated to present at the summit are representatives from renowned organizations such as NASA, the European Space Agency, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, Lockheed Martin, Collins Aerospace, the Planetary Society, Virgin Galactic, and Raytheon Technologies. The event is also expected to draw a diverse audience comprising students, innovators, authors, and STEM professionals.
Registration Details
For those interested in participating, the cost of attending both days of the summit stands at $495 alongside a $30.09 booking fee. Single-day registration is available at $300 plus a $19.27 fee, while students can secure a two-day pass for $125.00 plus a $9.55 fee. Various additional events, such as the Great Scotch Whisky Taste-Off, networking sessions, book signings, Capitol Hill visits, and the closing ceremony, are open for pre-registration at varying prices.
Attendees unable to join physically can catch up on the summit’s proceedings through Explore Mars’ YouTube channel, which will host a recap of the event. J.R.
