Aerospike Secures $109 Million in Funding for AI Database Capabilities

Recently, Aerospike announced a successful funding round, raising $109 million to enhance its AI capabilities and expand its market presence. Established in 2009 with a focus on advertising technology, Aerospike has evolved into a versatile multi-model database. In 2022, the platform began supporting the JSON document model, followed by the addition of graph database capabilities in 2023.
With a growing list of esteemed clients such as Adobe, AppsFlyer, Barclays, Flipkart, and PayPal, Aerospike is increasingly utilized to power AI and machine learning (ML) applications. Despite its current functionalities, the platform is actively working on integrating vector capabilities, set to be released in the near future.

Aerospike’s CEO, Subbu Iyer, emphasized the company’s commitment to real-time data access and actionable insights across various sectors. While the demand for vector capabilities in AI databases has surged, other database providers like Google and Neo4j have also embraced this trend.
Even without native vector support, Aerospike excels in predictive AI applications, enabling seamless offline model training and result storage within the platform. As organizations transition towards continuous learning approaches, Aerospike’s forthcoming vector capabilities are anticipated to elevate AI use cases significantly.
