The minute-long commercial, produced in-house and released on Tuesday, featured various items such as a piano, buckets of paint, a guitar, and a sculpture being destroyed by an industrial crusher. Apple’s Vice President of Marketing Communications, Tor Myhren, emphasized that creativity is a fundamental aspect of Apple’s DNA, and it is essential for the company to design products that empower creatives worldwide. However, the commercial failed to convey this message effectively, leading to the issued apology.

In a statement to AdAge, Myhren stated, “Our goal is to always celebrate the myriad of ways users express themselves and bring their ideas to life through iPad. We missed the mark with this video, and we’re sorry.” The decision was made not to promote the commercial on television, highlighting Apple’s acknowledgment of the mistake and their dedication to upholding their values.
