MLBPA Revokes Certification of Baseball Agent at Rimas Sports

In a recent development, a baseball agent working at Bad Bunny’s Rimas Sports firm has had his certification revoked by the Major League Baseball Players Association. The union, however, chose not to disclose any details regarding the reason behind this decision when contacted on Friday.

Expressing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in the industry, Rimas Sports released a statement on Friday stating, “At Rimas Sports, we uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity of our industry. Out of respect for an ongoing process within the context of the MLBPA agent regulations, we will refrain from making any comments at this time. We remain committed to continue serving our clients with excellence.”

While the agent in question, Arroyo, opted to refrain from providing any comments at the moment, he mentioned that he plans to address the situation shortly. The decision to revoke his certification is said to be appealable before a member of the American Arbitration Association, as per the union’s agent regulations.

Notably, Rimas Sports represents several prominent players in Major League Baseball, including New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez, infielder Ronny Mauricio, New York Yankees infielder Oswald Peraza, Colorado shortstop Ezequiel Tovar, and Washington outfielder Eddie Rosario.

It is worth mentioning that Bad Bunny, a globally renowned artist whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio and a three-time Grammy winner, established Rimas Sports in April of 2023. Initial reports of the certification revocation were first brought to light by ESPN, with anonymous sources alleging instances of inappropriate benefits being provided to players by other agents.
