This pattern of fluctuation has become customary in recent weeks within the realm of Bitcoin trading. The market exhibits a flurry of activity in the morning, propelling prices to new heights. Subsequently, holders of Bitcoin seek to capitalize on their investments, triggering significant price drops. For instance, within just an hour of surpassing the $70,000 mark on Friday morning, Bitcoin’s value plummeted back below $67,000. Such incidents underscore the persistent volatility of the cryptocurrency landscape.
A Remarkable Year for Bitcoin
Remarkably, 2024 has proven to be a momentous year for Bitcoin. The year commenced with the cryptocurrency valued at slightly above $42,200 on January 1st. The meteoric surge witnessed in the initial three months can be attributed in part to the approval of various Bitcoin ETFs by the US Securities and Exchange Commission. This regulatory development has bestowed a degree of security upon Bitcoin and sparked heightened interest among financial institutions.
Despite reaching an all-time high, the current value of Bitcoin falls short of its pinnacle in November 2021, when it reached $68,982.20. Notably, the cryptocurrency is presently valued at several thousand dollars lower than it was nearly three years ago. To surpass its previous inflation-adjusted high, Bitcoin would need to exceed $76,544.11.
