Bored & Hungry Restaurant Closes After Two Years

Los Angeles-based restaurant Bored & Hungry, known for its unique concept of accepting Ethereum and Apecoin cryptocurrencies alongside traditional payment methods, is shutting down its original location in Long Beach, California.

Co-founder Andy Nguyen announced that the restaurant’s branding will now be taken over by the Hungry DAO. Despite the closure of the Long Beach establishment, Nguyen mentioned that there is a possibility of reopening in the Los Angeles area, pending a suitable location for the business model.

Origin and Vision

Bored & Hungry first opened its doors in Long Beach on April 11, 2022, attracting attention as customers lined up down busy 7th Street in the seaside town. The restaurant’s inception was rooted in leveraging NFT intellectual property to create a distinctive dining experience.

Kevin Seo, a co-founder of Bored & Hungry, emphasized the brand’s connection to the Web3 community and its mission to engage with the local community in Long Beach through innovative approaches.

Expanding Horizons

Despite facing challenges in broadening its customer base beyond the Web3 community, Bored & Hungry managed to establish additional locations in Manila, Philippines, and Seoul, South Korea. The brand is now setting its sights on expanding to Hong Kong, Singapore, and Dubai, focusing on building a presence in Asia and the Middle East.

Nguyen expressed optimism about the future of Bored & Hungry in the United States, hinting at forthcoming announcements regarding new locations in the country. The closure of the original Long Beach restaurant marks the end of a chapter, but the brand’s journey continues with renewed energy and aspirations.
