All eyes on Caitlin Clark’s Home Debut
Indiana basketball fans are eagerly anticipating the WNBA home debut of Caitlin Clark with the Fever. The NBA has strategically scheduled the playoffs to allow for a full audience to witness this highly anticipated event.
Post-Season Scheduling Decisions
The NBA recently unveiled the complete schedule for the second round of the playoffs, with a specific focus on creating space for Clark’s home debut. On May 16, the Indiana Pacers will not have a game scheduled, ensuring that all attention is on Clark’s debut in Indianapolis.
Unique Schedule Adjustments
The Pacers are gearing up to face the New York Knicks in the upcoming playoff series, which kicks off on Monday. While the teams initially followed a two-day game pattern, a three-day break has been incorporated between May 14 and May 17 to free up Gainbridge Fieldhouse for Clark’s debut.
This scheduling decision has also impacted the Eastern Conference second-round series between Boston and either Orlando or Cleveland. Both of these teams may potentially have their Game 6 on May 17.
Game 6 Scenarios
Interestingly, the only game scheduled for May 16 involves a possible Game 6 between the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves. The NBA’s decision to delay the Pacers-Knicks Game 6 also pushed back the corresponding game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and either the Los Angeles Clippers or Dallas Mavericks to May 18, a day that the league typically avoids scheduling games on.
Pre-Season Adjustments
To accommodate the NBA playoffs schedule, the Indiana Fever made the decision to move Clark’s pre-season home debut by one day. Originally set for May 10, the debut was rescheduled to make way for Game 3 of the series between the Knicks and Pacers.
Upcoming Games
The second round of the NBA Playoffs will commence on Saturday, with the Timberwolves and Nuggets facing off in Denver. Simultaneously, Clark and the Indiana Fever are preparing for their first pre-season game against the Dallas Wings, leading up to their regular season opener against the Connecticut Sun on May 14.
