Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott Files Lawsuit Accusing Woman of Extortion Attempt

Dak Prescott, the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, initiated legal action on Monday, lodging a complaint against a woman and her legal representatives for allegedly trying to extort $100 million from him.

As per the filing in Texas’ Collin County, Prescott is seeking damages exceeding $1 million and has pledged to donate any financial compensation granted to the Joyful Heart Foundation or similar charitable organization.

Background of the Allegations

The lawsuit asserts that in January, attorneys Bethel and Yoel Zehaie from Arlington, Texas, representing a woman, sent a letter to Prescott accusing him of sexually assaulting her in February 2017. The correspondence outlined a proposal wherein the woman was willing to withhold filing criminal charges and public disclosure in exchange for a payment to address the mental anguish she purportedly endured. The specified amount in the demand was $100 million.

Although the identity of the woman is not disclosed by ESPN due to her claiming to be a sexual assault victim, Prescott’s lawyer, Levi McCathern, issued a statement categorically denying the allegations.

“Mr. Prescott, a recent father to a baby girl, expresses profound sympathy for survivors of sexual misconduct. He strongly advocates for the stringent punishment of all those who perpetrate such offenses. Importantly, Mr. Prescott has never engaged in any form of nonconsensual sexual behavior. Fabricated allegations inflict harm, particularly when done maliciously. We shall not permit the defendant and her legal counsel to profit from this extortion endeavor targeting Mr. Prescott.”

The lawsuit, comprising 11 pages, includes claims of defamation, slander, business disparagement, tortious interference with existing or prospective business relationships, civil conspiracy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. McCathern affirmed that Prescott has reported the matter to law enforcement and will fully cooperate with the investigation.

Subsequently, one of the woman’s lawyers, Bethel Zehaie, issued a rejoinder to ESPN, disputing the assertions made by Prescott and his legal team and maintaining that Prescott admitted to being present with the woman during the purported incident in 2017.

“We stand by our stance,” the statement from Zehaie affirmed. “Dak and his legal representatives are resorting to bullying tactics and baselessly shifting blame onto the victim. We are resolute in our commitment to exposing the truth. Dak must answer for his actions. Neither he nor his legal advisers intimidate us.”
