Philadelphia Eagles Extend Contract with Landon Dickerson
The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Monday that they have reached an agreement with Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson on a four-year contract extension. The deal, reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, is valued at a maximum of $87 million, with $50 million guaranteed, making Dickerson the highest-paid guard in NFL history.
At 25 years old, Dickerson, a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft from the University of Alabama, was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract. Since joining the Eagles, Dickerson has become a key player in the team’s lineup, starting in 46 out of 50 possible games and earning Pro Bowl honors in each of the past two seasons.
During the 2023 season, Dickerson stood out among interior offensive linemen, leading in ESPN’s run-block win rate metric at 81% and ranking fourth in pass-block win rate at 96%. Despite the retirement of All-Pro center Jason Kelce, the Eagles’ offensive line remains strong, with returning starters Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, and Cam Jurgens.
Jurgens, a second-round pick from the 2022 draft, is expected to shift from right guard to center to fill Kelce’s spot, creating an opening at the right guard position. The Eagles’ offensive line, with Dickerson’s contributions, excelled in 2023, leading in run-block win rate at 77% and ranking seventh in pass-block win rate at 63%.
