Joel Embiid Sits Out 76ers’ Regular Season Finale

Joel Embiid, the star player for the Philadelphia 76ers, opted to sit out of the team’s regular-season finale against the Brooklyn Nets as a precautionary measure before the playoffs, as reported by sources from ESPN. Despite this decision, sources also indicated that Embiid is expected to be back in action for the team’s upcoming games.

If the Philadelphia 76ers end up playing in the 7-8 play-in game on the road, Embiid could make his return to the court on Tuesday. However, if they host the play-in game, his comeback might be delayed until Wednesday. Alternatively, if the team manages to secure a spot in the first round of the playoffs without having to go through the play-in game, Embiid’s return could take place next weekend.

Embiid’s Recent Injury Concerns

Embiid’s absence from the regular-season finale comes after a scare in a previous game where he experienced discomfort in his left knee but ultimately continued to play. Following this incident, Embiid participated in a practice session led by Sixers coach Nick Nurse the day after the game.

The NBA’s reigning Most Valuable Player, Embiid has demonstrated exceptional performance on the court, averaging 30.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in the five games he has played since returning from a two-month layoff due to a procedure on his left meniscus.

Playoff Seeding Scenarios

The outcome of the game against the Nets will determine the Philadelphia 76ers’ final seeding in the Eastern Conference standings. A victory coupled with a loss for the Orlando Magic against the Milwaukee Bucks would secure the sixth seed for the 76ers. However, if both the 76ers and the Magic emerge victorious, Philadelphia will fall to the seventh seed and face the Miami Heat in a home game on Wednesday.
