The significant father of Brazilian soccer sensation Neymar Jr. Declared on Thursday that his family refrains from paying the steep €1 million bail demanded to release Dani Alves from a Spanish detention facility while he awaits the outcome of an appeal related to his conviction for sexual assault. Neymar da Silva Santos Sr. conveyed through a statement that although his family offered financial aid to Alves during his legal proceedings, they have opted not to contribute again following the former player’s conviction for sexually molesting a woman at a Barcelona nightclub in 2022.

“This issue has concluded from our perspective. Period,” affirmed Neymar da Silva Santos Sr.

The 40-year-old Alves was handed a sentence of four years and six months to be served at a jail near Barcelona. Specifics on the amount previously provided to Alves were omitted by Neymar’s father; however, he accentuated that it’s an altered scenario now due to the judiciary’s adverse verdict against Alves.

“Given the Spanish court ruling on his conviction, certain insinuations and efforts to link my reputation and that of my son to an issue no longer in our sphere have emerged,” expressed Neymar’s father within the family’s statement.

Expressing optimism that Alves locates the resolutions he seeks within his own family, Neymar’s father’s statement underscored hope for the former player’s future.

Alves is one of Brazil’s most successful soccer figures, having attained numerous accolades with top-tier clubs like Barcelona. While Neymar plays professionally in Saudi Arabia, Alves’ ongoing legal woes have captivated fans and pundits alike.

Despite denying any wrongdoing, Alves has remained in confinement since his arrest in January 2023.

Notably, Brazil does not extradite its citizens even when they face prosecution abroad; nevertheless, Alves must surrender his passports and remain within Spanish borders as a condition for bail.
