Crypto Twitter’s New Favorite Game Pays Out $1.25 Million in Ethereum to Top Influencers

Crypto Twitter has been abuzz with excitement over the emergence of Fantasy Top, a new game that recently distributed $1.25 million worth of Ethereum to top influencers. The game, which transforms influencers into NFT trading cards for a fantasy football-like experience, has been a hit among users since launching on the Ethereum scaling network Blast just one week ago.

Players in Fantasy Top are able to create card lineups featuring their favorite Twitter influencers, and can earn rewards based on the social engagement of those influencers. Some of the in-game “heroes” turned into cards include meme coin trader Ansem, DeGods creator Frank, and Su Zhu, the co-founder of the collapsed crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital.

It’s worth noting that Farokh Sarmad, president of the parent company that includes Decrypt, is also one of the Fantasy Top “heroes.”

First Payouts and Top Earners

Influencers involved in Fantasy Top earn a 1.5% fee from the trading volume of their card, as well as a share of 10% of all pack sale revenue. Following the game’s first payouts, creators have been quick to cash in on their earnings. The top three earners for the first week were content creator Jenn Duong in first place, with Ansem and Blast founder Pacman tied for second. The top earner received 6.7 ETH ($20,500), while the runners-up each took home 6.1 ETH ($18,700) respectively.

Expressing his satisfaction with his earnings, Ansem shared on Twitter, “Fantasy Top [is] one of the crypto apps that could onboard a lot of Web2 creators.” This sentiment reflects the potential of platforms like Fantasy Top to attract influencers from traditional web sectors into the crypto space.

Battling Bots and Ensuring Fair Play

Scoring in Fantasy Top is dependent on the real-world social media engagement of a player’s lineup. Recently, concerns were raised regarding the authenticity of Duong’s Twitter engagement, with suspicions of bot activity. Despite these challenges, Fantasy Top maintains that it employs anti-bot measures to ensure fair play. Duong’s organic engagement stemming from her video content surrounding Fantasy Top and other Blast apps and protocols has also propelled her forward in the game.

Aside from the 409 ETH ($1.25 million) distributed to heroes, an additional 2,480 Blast Gold was shared among players. While the exact value of Blast Gold remains uncertain, industry analysts predict it to exceed $10, adding significant value to the game’s first-week payouts. Additionally, “heroes” earn FAN points, which could potentially lead to a future token airdrop.

Future Developments and SocialFi Integration

Fantasy Top has hinted at launching a feature that will allow influencer “heroes” to share their earned rewards with players who own their in-game cards. This move would introduce a SocialFi element to the game, enhancing the interactivity between influencers, players, and NFT holders. Several influencers have already confirmed their plans to participate in this reward-sharing initiative.
