Marvel Studios Unveils Footage from Captain America: Brave New World at CinemaCon 2024

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took the stage at CinemaCon 2024 in Las Vegas to debut the first footage from the upcoming film, Captain America: Brave New World, set to release on February 14, 2025. Despite the film’s premiere being almost a year away, Feige wanted to set the stage for what audiences can expect from the new Captain America, Sam Wilson, portrayed by Anthony Mackie.

During his presentation, Feige drew parallels between Captain America: Brave New World and its predecessor, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, a film that remains a fan favorite due to its fast-paced action and grounded storytelling within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new footage showcased a glimpse of the White House, where Sam Wilson meets the new President of the United States, Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford, taking over the role previously held by William Hurt.

Ross, a character known for his skepticism of superheroes, acknowledges Wilson’s heroics in Mexico, prompting him to seek Sam’s assistance in rebuilding the Avengers. This encounter sets the stage for a gripping narrative as Ross and Sam navigate their differences, knowing all too well the consequences of past disagreements that led to the Sokovia Accords and the events of Captain America: Civil War.

As the story unfolds, a presentation by the President is disrupted by an old song that triggers Isaiah Bradley, one of the original super soldiers portrayed by Carl Lumbly. Bradley, driven by a malevolent force, attempts to assassinate the President, plunging the narrative into chaos and action-packed sequences that showcase Sam’s prowess as the new Captain America.

The footage teased intense fight sequences between Sam and Bradley, punctuated by moments of suspense and spectacle, culminating in President Ross acknowledging the threats lurking within his inner circle. The trailer culminates in a visually stunning shot of Sam donning the new Captain America armor, complete with Falcon wings, against the backdrop of Washington D.C.’s Cherry Blossom trees.

Directed by Julius Onah and featuring a stellar cast including Tim Blake Nelson and Liv Tyler, Captain America: Brave New World promises to deliver a thrilling cinematic experience that will captivate audiences when it hits theaters on February 14, 2025.
