Former Republican George Santos Announces Independent Run in 2024 Election

On Friday, former Republican Representative George Santos declared his departure from the Republican Party to pursue a candidacy as an independent in the upcoming 2024 election. Santos, who previously represented New York’s First congressional district, is set to challenge Democrat Rep. Nick LoLota in the electoral race.

Notably, George Santos was ousted from Congress by the Republican majority, despite their slight advantage over the radical Democrats. Following his removal, New York Republicans opted to field a registered Democrat in the special election against Nick LoLata, who ultimately secured victory, reclaiming the seat for the Democrats.

As a consequence of Santos’ departure and the sudden retirements of two significant RINOs, the Republican Party currently holds a single-seat majority in the US House.

Exclusive Interview with George Santos

The Gateway Pundit conducted an exclusive interview with George Santos, shedding light on his decision to embark on a new congressional campaign. Santos expressed his perspective and rationale for breaking away from the Republican Party:

George Santos: “I’ve always been a conservative at heart and a Republican because that’s where my conservative values aligned the most. The biggest thing for me as a Republican has always been fiscal responsibility. Following today’s vote with the minibus, I’m sorry, there is no Fiscal conservative Party left in Washington, DC. Then why affiliate with them? Why bother? It’s no different than the Democrat Party. My approach here is very simple. I am, yes, ultra-MAGA. I am, yes, America first! I am, yes, a TRUMPlican. Maybe it’s about time we just accept who we are instead of trying to pretend to be who we are not. I am not a Republican. I am a fiscal conservative, and there’s no home in Washington DC for somebody like me.”

During the interview, George Santos emphasized the need for a paradigm shift in the political landscape, advocating for the disintegration of the two-party system and the emergence of alternative parties:

George Santos: “I think it’s about time we break the two-party system fever and we bring a third, a fourth party into the mix. It would only benefit this country greatly. I really hope that others can find the fortitude within them to just unaffiliate from the Republican Party because essentially, the Republican Party, all it does is lose and beg for money so they can lose some more.”

As the electoral race unfolds, the looming question remains: Will the Republicans opt out of the competition, or will they nominate another Democrat in a bid to secure victory?
