Ghostface Killah Launches Music-Themed Ordinal Inscriptions on Bitcoin Blockchain

Ghostface Killah, a pivotal member of the renowned Wu-Tang Clan, recently unveiled a selection of music-themed Ordinal Inscriptions on the Bitcoin blockchain. Through a Twitter announcement on Monday, the hip-hop luminary shared this groundbreaking initiative.

Born as Dennis David Coles in New York City, Ghostface Killah collaborated with Nakamotos on BTC, the creators of the NakaPepes Collection, Rare Scrilla, and the OrdinalsBot inscription platform to introduce these tracks to the Bitcoin network.

“We Bitcoin OGs. When everyone in the industry was on Opensea, I was rocking with the Rare Pepe fam on Counterparty and FakeRares,” Ghostface Killah explained, highlighting his deep-rooted involvement with digital collectible projects. He also expressed gratitude to Jason Williams for introducing him to this cultural phenomenon.

Unique Collection and Innovation

The NakaPepes collection comprises 10,000 Ordinal inscriptions that can be minted at no cost, each adorned with a Creative Commons license. With a floor price of 0.000898 BTC on Magic Eden, equivalent to around $60, these inscriptions offer a fusion of art and music on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Speculations suggest that purchasing a NakaPepe v2 inscription will facilitate access to this exclusive collection, although details regarding the release date remain undisclosed.

OrdinalsBot’s head of Strategy, Toby Lewis, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Ghostface Killah and the NakaPepes collection. Leveraging features like recursive inscriptions within the Ordinals protocol, Lewis emphasized the ability to incorporate high-quality audio content onto the Bitcoin blockchain.

Introducing recursive inscriptions through the BRC-69 standard last year revolutionized the inclusion of diverse data types on the blockchain, such as software, smart contracts, video games, music, and movies. Recent milestones, like the monumental Runestone inscription minted in collaboration with Bitcoin mining firm Marathon Digital, underscore the blockchain’s evolution beyond financial transactions.

“We envision a future where Bitcoin serves as a dynamic platform for music, art, and essential data for identity, business settlements, and ownership,” Lewis reflected on the transformative potential of the blockchain.

Despite the profound implications of this endeavor, representatives for Ghostface Killah refrained from immediate responses to Decrypt’s request for commentary.
