Global Expansion for Honor of Kings

Game developer TiMi Studio Group and publisher Level Infinite, both divisions of Tencent, have announced that Honor of Kings will be expanding its global presence on June 20. This news may come as a surprise to many, considering that Honor of Kings originally launched as a popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game in China in 2015, amassing over 200 million registered players and 100 million daily players. Despite its immense success, with revenues totaling $15 billion, the game has yet to establish a foothold in the global gaming market.

The companies are now actively targeting players from North America, Europe, Japan, and other regions, in addition to the countries where the game is already available. To build anticipation, they have released a teaser trailer and opened up pre-registration for interested players, offering rewards that enhance the in-game experience.

Pre-Registration Rewards

Pre-registration for Honor of Kings has officially begun. Players who sign up early will receive a complimentary hero, Ying, along with a special skin. Additional rewards include 500 Diamonds at Level 1, 2,000 Arcana Fragments at Level 2, 5,000 Starstones at Level 3, and a trial pass for 20 All Heroes at Level 4.

In addition, a lucky draw event starting on May 31 will give pre-registered players, as well as those in regions where the game is already launched, a chance to win prizes such as Full Hero with skin privileges, Limited Time Tokens, Starstones, and Diamonds.

Gameplay and Features

Honor of Kings remains popular due to its principle of being free-to-play and fair-to-win, emphasizing skill and strategy over monetary advantage. Players collaborate strategically to overcome opponents, with various game modes available including 5v5 MOBA matches, 1v1, 3v3, Boot Camp, and AI simulations.

The game boasts over 100 heroes and five unique character types, each offering a distinct gameplay experience. Cinematic visuals and acclaimed musical scores enhance the immersive gameplay, with sessions typically lasting between 15 to 20 minutes. Matchmaking is designed to pair players of similar skill levels and preferences, ensuring balanced and competitive gameplay.

Esports Event: Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2

On June 29, Kuala Lumpur will host the Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2 tournament, featuring teams from various regions competing for a share of the $300,000 prize pool. Winners will also secure a spot in the Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason event, taking place during the Esports World Cup in Riyadh this summer. TiMi Studio Group is making significant investments in the esports ecosystem, with a total commitment of $50 million.

Established in 2008, TiMi Studio Group has a proven track record of successful titles, including Honor of Kings, Speed Drifters, and Arena of Valor. The company is renowned for its partnerships with leading gaming brands, responsible for developing games like Call of Duty: Mobile, Pokémon Unite, and the upcoming Age of Empires Mobile.
