IKEA Ventures into Virtual Gaming on Roblox
IKEA, the renowned Swedish furniture maker, is delving into the gaming world for the first time with the launch of its virtual store on the popular platform Roblox. The company announced earlier this week that it is seeking to hire 10 individuals to join its digital workforce.
The initiative, known as “The Co-Worker Game,” aims to provide players, referred to as employees, with an immersive experience within the realm of IKEA. Those selected for the positions will assist users in selecting furniture, serving the famous IKEA meatballs, and even have the opportunity for promotions and department transfers.
Darren Taylor, IKEA U.K. and Ireland country people and culture manager, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We’re excited to launch paid work on Roblox to showcase how we do careers differently, bringing our unique careers philosophy to life.”
Job Requirements and Compensation
Prospective applicants must be 18 years or older and reside in the U.K. or Ireland. Successful candidates can expect to earn between $13.25 to $16 per hour, with IKEA emphasizing that the London-based hourly rate aligns with the living wage standards. Although the company did not specify the duration of the positions, it assured that the roles offer flexibility.
Applications are currently open and will close on June 16. Selected candidates for these remote positions will undergo virtual interviews scheduled between June 14 and June 18. The virtual IKEA universe is set to launch on June 24.
