The John R. Wooden Award Ballot Revealed

The announcement of the 15-player national ballot for the prestigious John R. Wooden Award was made on ESPN’s “College GameDay,” shining a spotlight on the remarkable Caitlin Clark of the Iowa Hawkeyes who stands out as a record-breaker in her own right.

Clark, who recently clinched her third Big Ten Player of the Year title, is not alone on the list. Joining her are four other standout players who have earned the honor of being named their respective conference players of the year. These players include Cameron Brink from the Stanford Cardinal representing the Pac-12, Paige Bueckers from the UConn Huskies in the Big East, Elizabeth Kitley from the Virginia Tech Hokies in the ACC, and Angel Reese from the LSU Tigers in the SEC.

Among the notable inclusions on the ballot are two freshmen: JuJu Watkins from the USC Trojans and Hannah Hidalgo from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The list further features exceptional talents such as Georgia Amoore from the Hokies, Kamilla Cardoso from the South Carolina Gamecocks, Aaliyah Edwards from the Huskies, Mackenzie Holmes from the Indiana Hoosiers, Kiki Iriafen from the Cardinal, Ayoka Lee from the Kansas State Wildcats, Aneesah Morrow from LSU, and Alissa Pili from the Utah Utes.

The John R. Wooden Award is a prestigious recognition bestowed upon the most outstanding player in women’s college basketball. Past recipients include Bueckers in 2021 and Clark in 2023, who have both previously claimed the honor. The next step in the selection process involves voters unveiling a 10-player All-America team before ultimately revealing the recipient of the Wooden Award later in the spring.

With such an impressive lineup of talented athletes, the anticipation for the final announcement continues to build as fans eagerly await to see who will emerge as the ultimate standout player in women’s college basketball.
