At 65 years old, Calipari’s new five-year contract at Arkansas commences at $7 million per season, a figure notably lower than the $8.5 million he received while coaching the Wildcats. The agreement includes a lucrative $1 million signing bonus and $500,000 retention bonuses annually, alongside performance-based incentives tied to NCAA tournament achievements.
Furthermore, the contract features automatic renewal provisions triggered by NCAA tournament appearances, which could potentially extend Calipari’s tenure through 2031. Arkansas Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek expressed unwavering confidence in Calipari’s coaching acumen and recruiting prowess, citing his track record of success within the Southeastern Conference and nationally.
