Former Speaker McCarthy’s Comments on Rep. Gaetz
During a recent event, former Speaker Kevin McCarthy made revealing statements regarding his relationship with Rep. Matt Gaetz. McCarthy suggested that Gaetz orchestrated his ousting as Speaker due to McCarthy’s refusal to dismiss an ethics complaint against Gaetz. This complaint alleged that Gaetz engaged in sexual activities with a 17-year-old girl.

McCarthy’s Retaliation Strategy
McCarthy’s actions indicate a potential revenge tour against those who played a part in his removal from the Speaker position. While McCarthy maintained uncertainty regarding Gaetz’s alleged misconduct, he acknowledged Gaetz’s desire for the dismissal of the ethics investigation. This desire, according to McCarthy, led to his removal as Speaker.
Despite his removal, McCarthy continues to harbor bitterness towards the far-right members of the House Republican conference who orchestrated his downfall. Utilizing funds from his political action committee, McCarthy has already initiated campaigns against individuals he perceives as disloyal, such as Rep. Nancy Mace. However, it appears that McCarthy reserves a special level of animosity towards Gaetz, whom he views as the primary instigator behind his removal from office.
While McCarthy may no longer hold the Speaker position, his recent actions suggest a determined effort to tarnish the reputations of those involved in his ousting, with Gaetz being a primary target of his vindictive campaign.
