Apple Unveils Next-Gen Logic Pro Features for Mac and iPad

During Apple’s recent iPad-a-palooza event, the tech giant announced exciting new updates for Logic Pro, its professional audio recording software. While the focus was on the iPad version, it is worth noting that these enhancements will also be available for the Mac version of Logic Pro. The upcoming versions, upgraded to Logic Pro 11 for Mac and Logic Pro 2 for iPad, are set to be released on May 13 as free upgrades for existing users.

Although a subscription fee is required for iPad users to access Logic Pro, those who already have a subscription will automatically receive the upgrade. Speculations about Apple moving the Mac version to a subscription model have been dispelled for now.

Exciting New Features

Both the Mac and iPad versions of Logic Pro will receive a host of new features that emphasize Apple’s commitment to artificial intelligence. Drummer, a popular feature that simulates a generative performer capable of diverse styles and human-like variations, is getting a significant upgrade.

For the first time in a decade, Logic Pro will introduce new generative session players for bass and keys. The new Bass Player, developed in collaboration with leading bassists using advanced AI and sampling technologies, aims to revolutionize music creation. Additionally, Logic Pro will include Studio Bass with six new instruments to enhance the bass player experience.

Similarly, a new Keyboard Player is set to debut, accompanied by the Studio Piano plugin. Offering features typically found in premium virtual instruments, the Keyboard Player promises a versatile toolkit for musicians, capable of handling everything from basic chords to complex chord voicing with extended harmony.

Drummer’s ease of use in creating drum patterns has been a standout feature. On the other hand, the new session players require a different approach, which is addressed through the introduction of Chord Track in Logic Pro. This feature streamlines the process of producing bass and keyboard tracks, enriching the overall music-making experience.
