Kyshawn George Declares for 2024 NBA Draft

Miami freshman Kyshawn George, a highly touted prospect projected to go in the first round of the upcoming 2024 NBA draft, has made the decision to forgo his remaining college eligibility. George revealed to ESPN that he has hired an agent and submitted the necessary paperwork to declare for the draft.

Reflecting on his journey, George shared, “I decided to follow my basketball dream and make it a reality. I did not expect anything from this season besides working on my game and getting better every day.” Born in Switzerland, George made his way to Florida as an unheralded recruit from the French second division. However, he quickly caught the attention of scouts in the ACC, showcasing his skills by averaging 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while shooting an impressive 41% from beyond the arc. He currently holds the No. 24 spot in ESPN’s draft projections.

Rising Talent with Versatility

Standing tall at 6-foot-9, George displayed his versatility on the court by handling the point guard position for Miami. His dynamic perimeter-shooting ability and polished basketball instincts garnered significant praise. Despite being a late bloomer who experienced a growth spurt of 10 inches in just five years, George has shown immense potential for further development.

“I was able to show NBA teams that I’m a versatile player who could impact the game on both sides of the floor and a good teammate,” George explained. “I’m still adapting to my new body, and we are just getting a little taste of what I could do in the future. I have a whole lot more I could show and do.”

Looking Ahead to the Draft

The 2024 NBA draft is set to take place over two days in New York City on June 26 and 27. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn will host the first round, followed by the second round at ESPN’s studio in lower Manhattan the next day. As George prepares to embark on this new chapter in his basketball career, the basketball world eagerly anticipates the impact he will make at the professional level.
