Moto G Series 2024: The Latest Offerings From Motorola
The renowned tech giant, Motorola, is set to unveil the 2024 iteration of its beloved “Moto G” budget phone series. This year, consumers are presented with two enticing options: the “Moto G 5G 2024” and the “Moto G Power 5G 2024”. The standard Moto G 2024 comes with a price tag of $199.99, while the Power version is priced at $299.99.
Specifications of the Moto G 2024
As for the base model Moto G 2024, the specifications are quite diverse. The device boasts a 6.6-inch, 120 Hz, 1612×720 LCD display with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor under the hood. In terms of memory and storage, users can expect 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a hefty 5000 mAh battery with 18W wired charging support.
On top of that, the Moto G 2024 offers several additional features including a 3.5 mm headphone jack, NFC capability, a side fingerprint reader, and a microSD slot for expandable storage. While the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip is considered budget-friendly, it raises eyebrows due to its focus on minimal 5G support alongside outdated 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology.
Photography-wise, the base-model Moto G sports a single 50MP rear camera along with a 2MP “macro” lens, while the front camera stands at 8MP.
Moto G Power 2024: A Closer Look
Turning our attention to the Moto G Power 5G 2024, this variant sets itself apart with a larger 6.7-inch, 120 Hz 2400×1080 LCD display powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. Alongside 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a similar 5000 mAh battery, the Power model differentiates itself with faster 30W charging and an unexpected inclusion of 15W wireless charging.
Both phones offer the same set of additional features as the base model. Despite their similarities, the Moto G Power 2024 embraces a more contemporary design paired with “vegan leather” finishes on the back. While not fully waterproof, the phones tout splash resistance for added durability.
Availability and Launch Dates
Motorola plans to market these devices through various pre-paid carriers and online retailers such as Amazon, Motorola.com, and Best Buy. The Moto G Power will debut on Cricket on March 22, followed by availability on other carriers. Unlocked sales commence on March 29.
On the other hand, the standard Moto G 2024 will hit the market on March 21, with the unlocked version becoming available from May 2 onwards.
