Allegations Surface Against RuPaul’s Drag Race Star Shangela

New allegations have emerged accusing former RuPaul’s Drag Race star Shangela, whose real name is Darius Jeremy Pierce, of multiple sexual assaults. These allegations come less than a year after a former production assistant claimed that the TV personality had raped him.

A total of four individuals have come forward, stating that Pierce, 42, sexually assaulted them or attempted to engage in sexual activity with them while intoxicated. Furthermore, a fifth person alleges that Pierce tried to anally penetrate him in a bathroom closet.

Details of Allegations and Lawsuit

In May 2023, Pierce faced accusations of raping a former production assistant named Daniel McGarrigle, 40, who worked on the HBO show “We’re Here.” This incident allegedly occurred after a crew party in 2020. Despite Pierce denying all allegations, the civil suit was dismissed in February after both parties reached a settlement.

Another accuser named Helmer, 27, filed a police report against Pierce, claiming he was sexually assaulted at the age of 20 after a night out in 2017. The complaint was filed in Los Angeles on June 1, 2023, but due to a procedural error, the police report wasn’t returned until December 20. Helmer stated that he met Pierce at a Los Angeles bar in 2017, exchanged contact information, and later woke up naked at Pierce’s residence without any recollection of the previous events.

By the time Helmer realized that he had been a victim of sexual assault, he believed that he lacked sufficient evidence to file a police report. Instead, he shared the details of the assault with his housemate Jay and his current boyfriend Josh.

McGarrigle’s lawsuit against Pierce alleged that the former forcibly engaged in anal sex without using protection. The suit claimed that Pierce had bought drinks and shots for McGarrigle during a crew party in Louisiana in 2020, and later assaulted him in a hotel room.

Current Status and Response

Shangela, known for co-hosting the HBO show “We’re Here,” has not yet addressed the recent allegations or the lawsuit. The accusations against Pierce mark a significant development in the ongoing controversy surrounding the well-known TV personality.
