“Doctor Who” Season 14: A Fresh Look at Time and Space Adventures

The regenerated Time Lord in the new trailer for “Doctor Who” boldly states, “There’s no such thing as monsters, only creatures you haven’t met yet.” As the beloved series gears up for its 14th season, fans can expect a reimagined dimension of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey adventures. The new season will debut on Disney+ following the 60th anniversary celebration in November and the Christmas Special in December, with two thrilling episodes set to launch on May 10 in the U.S. and May 11 in the U.K.

A Universe of Change

Veteran showrunner Russell T. Davies is set to shake things up with his polarizing changes to the “Doctor Who” universe. Ncuti Gatwa, known for his role in “Sex Education,” takes on the fifteenth incarnation of the Doctor, while Millie Gibson from “Coronation Street” joins as his TARDIS companion, Ruby Sunday. This time-traveling duo will face a mystery of cosmic proportions, spanning time and space for decades.

Exploring New Horizons

The upcoming series promises to take audiences on a journey through time and space, venturing into unknown lands, the Regency era in England, outer space worlds, and even the swinging Sixties. Davies’ approach will embrace the franchise’s nostalgia while introducing a diverse array of foes and friends, both familiar and new.

In a surprising turn of events, it was revealed in January that Varada Sethu from “Jurassic World Dominion” will replace Gibson as the Doctor’s companion for the 15th season, adding another layer of intrigue to the narrative.

Executive produced by a team of industry stalwarts including Phil Collinson, Joel Collins, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter, “Doctor Who” is a production of Bad Wolf in collaboration with BBC Studios for Disney Branded Television.
