The Imperial Inquisitors of the “Star Wars” Universe: A Deeper Look

Within the vast and intricate realm of the “Star Wars” universe, a formidable group known as the Imperial Inquisitors stands out as a ruthless and imposing force. Tasked with the mission of hunting down and eliminating the remaining members of the Jedi Order following the tragic events of Order 66, these relentless assassins have been deployed far and wide across the galaxy to eradicate the noble space knights who once served as the guardians of peace and justice.

Marvel Comics is set to delve deeper into the dark and sinister world of these relentless pursuers with an upcoming miniseries titled “Star Wars: Inquisitors.” This new series, penned by the acclaimed writer and producer Rodney Barnes, is slated to offer fans a closer look at the Inquisitors and their relentless pursuit of a mysterious Jedi target.

With artwork provided by illustrator Ramon Rosanas, these covers set the stage for a thrilling saga that promises to explore the dark and dangerous realm of the Inquisitors.

Exploring the Plot Line

Scheduled to debut on July 3, “Star Wars: Inquisitors” follows the merciless minions of the Empire as they hone in on a mysterious Jedi target, driven by an unrelenting desire to crush any remnants of the light side of the Force. The official synopsis teases a gripping narrative that will delve into the story of Tensu Run, a legendary Jedi who once crossed paths with the Inquisitors and the formidable Darth Vader.

“Weapons of the Emperor, sent out into the galaxy to track down and kill any Jedi who survived Order 66, the ruthless Inquisitors are among the most skilled and deadly threats to those who served the light side of the Force. Buried in the annals of Jedi lore is the story of Tensu Run, the Jedi who faced the Inquisitors and Darth Vader! What became of him, and why did the Empire so greatly fear his existence?”

The Inquisitors first made their mark in the animated series “Star Wars Rebels” before transitioning into the live-action realm with Disney+’s “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” These cunning disciples of Darth Vader, who answer directly to the Grand Inquisitor, have also left their mark in the popular video game “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.”

Expressing his excitement for the project, writer Rodney Barnes shared his thoughts on diving into the world of the Inquisitors: “It’s such an honor to be writing the very first Inquisitors solo story! I love this time period of ‘Star Wars’ lore because it’s the one I grew up on — when Darth Vader and the Empire were imposing their will on the entire galaxy. Plus, I got to create an all-new legendary Jedi with Tensu Run! Truly the best of times!”

Marvel’s “Star Wars: Inquisitors #1” is set to hit shelves on July 3, featuring a main cover by artist Nick Bradshaw along with special variants by Alex Maleev and the legendary Walt Simonson.
