The NHL Draft Lottery
The NHL Draft Lottery is set to take place on May 7 at the NHL Network’s studio in Secaucus, New Jersey, as announced by the league on Friday. This event will determine the order of selection for the first 16 picks in the first round of the much-anticipated 2024 NHL Draft, which is scheduled to take place on June 28-29 at the prestigious Sphere in Las Vegas.
Participating in the NHL Draft Lottery are teams that did not make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as well as those who acquired their first-round draft selection. This lottery system allows a team to move up a maximum of 10 spots in the draft order, with only the bottom 11 teams having a chance at securing the coveted No. 1 overall pick.
