Despite widespread praise from pundits, a Yahoo News/YouGov survey of 1,482 U.S. adults conducted after the speech revealed no significant improvement in public opinion towards President Biden. In a head-to-head matchup against former President Trump, the two candidates remain virtually tied, with Trump holding a slight lead. Notably, approval ratings for Biden have seen minimal change, with a majority of Americans still expressing disapproval of his performance as president.
These findings suggest that the initial optimism among Democrats may have been premature, as the president failed to garner increased support following his address.
