The decision was shared via a post on Omier’s official Instagram account, where he expressed his desire to continue competing at the highest level of college basketball and to further develop both as an athlete and as an individual.

Throughout his college career, the 6-foot-7 forward from Nicaragua has consistently showcased his skills on the court, earning two All-ACC selections and maintaining an impressive double-double average across all four of his seasons. In the 2023-24 season, Omier posted standout performances, recording 17 double-doubles including a 33-point, 10-rebound game against Notre Dame and a 20-point, 17-rebound game against Stonehill.

With a successful junior season that culminated in a Final Four appearance for the Miami Hurricanes, Omier’s talent and experience will undoubtedly be invaluable additions to the Baylor Bears’ roster. Known for his offensive prowess and exceptional rebounding abilities, Omier has proven himself as a versatile and impactful player on the court.

Prior to his time at Miami, Omier began his collegiate basketball journey at Arkansas State, where he received multiple accolades including Sun Belt Player of the Year honors in 2022. His consistent performance and leadership qualities have made him a sought-after recruit for top programs such as Baylor.

Impact on Baylor’s Team Dynamics

Baylor head coach Scott Drew recognized the need for a skilled post player to complement the team’s existing strengths, particularly in the upcoming 2024-25 season. With the addition of Omier, the Bears’ lineup is bolstered by a combination of experienced transfers and talented returning players, setting the stage for a competitive and dynamic season ahead.

Omier’s commitment to Baylor University reflects his dedication to achieving team success and personal growth in the realm of college basketball. His decision signals a new chapter in his collegiate career, one that holds the promise of continued excellence and the pursuit of championship aspirations alongside his new teammates at Baylor.
