Nvidia and Alphabet’s Intrinsic Collaborate on Advancements in Robotic Grasping and Industrial Scalability

Nvidia and Alphabet’s Intrinsic have recently joined forces to showcase the latest developments in robotic grasping and industrial scalability. These advancements mark a significant shift in the landscape of robotics, as new AI and platform technologies continue to revolutionize the industry. At the Automate trade show in Chicago, Intrinsic will be unveiling groundbreaking progress in robotic grasping and industrial scalability that is powered by Nvidia’s Isaac Manipulator and cutting-edge AI capabilities.

Isaac Manipulator: An Industrial Automation Milestone

The Isaac Manipulator, introduced by Nvidia at GTC 2024, represents a major leap forward in industrial automation. This innovative technology consists of foundation models and GPU-accelerated libraries that are specifically designed to streamline scalable and repeatable workflows for dynamic manipulation tasks. By leveraging a deep learning architecture based on transformer models, these foundation models empower robots to autonomously perceive and make decisions, mirroring a human-like level of understanding.

The Power of Collaboration

The collaboration between Nvidia and Intrinsic showcases the potential for a universally applicable robotic-grasping skill that can seamlessly operate across various grippers, environments, and objects. Wendy Tan White, CEO of Intrinsic, emphasized the transformative impact of foundation models in addressing processing challenges, cutting development costs, and enhancing flexibility for end-users.

Advancing Next-Generation Robots

Nvidia and Alphabet are on a mission to develop next-generation robots that push the boundaries of technological capabilities. A key focus of this partnership is the enhancement of robot grip, a skill that has traditionally posed challenges in terms of programming and scalability. By integrating Nvidia Isaac Sim on the Omniverse platform, Intrinsic has harnessed the power of simulation to generate synthetic data for vacuum grasping, paving the way for significant strides in industrial automation.

Driving Innovation with Intrinsic Technology

The prototype leverages Intrinsic Flowstate, a cutting-edge developer environment for AI-driven robotics solutions, to visualize processes, perception, and motion planning. By incorporating Isaac Manipulator into the workflow, users can generate grasp poses and CUDA-accelerated robot motions, which can be first evaluated in simulation using Isaac Sim, a cost-effective step, before deployment in the real world through the Intrinsic platform.

Nvidia and Intrinsic are committed to delivering state-of-the-art dexterity and modular AI capabilities to robotic arms, offering a comprehensive suite of foundation models and GPU-accelerated libraries to expedite new robotics and automation tasks.

On Tuesday, May 7, Nvidia senior research scientist Adithya Murali and Intrinsic chief science officer Torsten Kroeger will be showcasing their collaborative efforts in the session “Automating Smart Pick-and-Place With Intrinsic Flowstate and NVIDIA Isaac Manipulator” at Automate.
