The Monumental Achievements of OrdinalsBot in Bitcoin Inscriptions

The platform OrdinalsBot, dedicated to creating Bitcoin Ordinals and Runes, has made history by inscribing the largest Ordinals ever seen, weighing an impressive 3.969 megabytes. Identified as inscription number 70,614,708, the team behind OrdinalsBot unveiled this remarkable creation on Friday, which contains a duplicate of “A Declaration of Independence in Cyberspace” authored by Logos Network.

Speaking to Decrypt, OrdinalsBot co-founder Brian Laughlan disclosed that the enormity of the inscription was not due to the length of the document itself, but rather to the decision to present the document as an image large enough to be legible. Laughlan explained, “It’s really interesting because the actual text content, if you build that out, would be like two kilobytes. It’s tiny, but what they did was add an image and blew up the image to be that size—just to get that top spot and really make a statement.”

Advancements in Bitcoin Blockchain Storage Capacity

In recent times, the record for Bitcoin Ordinals inscription sizes has been continuously broken, albeit by marginal increments. However, there is limited room for expansion due to the constraints of the Bitcoin blockchain. The latest record inscription surpassed the previous holder by a mere 0.001MB. Laughlan elaborated that the Bitcoin blockchain’s storage capacity underwent a substantial enhancement in 2017 with the Segregated Witness (SegWit) update, elevating the maximum block size from 1 megabyte to 4MB. Any attempt to inscribe data exceeding this limit would be futile.

Discussing the protocol’s introduction in January 2023, OrdinalsBot emerged as a user-friendly interface for Bitcoin enthusiasts to partake in the Ordinals craze. Noteworthy projects facilitated by OrdinalsBot include inscribing musical Ordinals for renowned artists like French Montana and Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan. Collaborating with Marathon Digital, a Bitcoin mining firm, OrdinalsBot successfully integrated substantial data into a single Bitcoin blockchain block for monumental endeavors like the Logos Network Declaration and the March Runestone inscription.

Technical Expertise and Collaborative Efforts

Co-founder Toby Lewis commended the exceptional skills of OrdinalsBot’s engineers, as well as Marathon’s technical prowess, emphasizing their pivotal roles in achieving groundbreaking milestones. With a user base exceeding 200,000, OrdinalsBot takes pride in its involvement in crafting eight of the ten largest files ever inscribed on Bitcoin, including noteworthy projects like the Runestone, Ordz Games for the BitBoy One console, and Inscribed Pepes. Additionally, OrdinalsBot extends backend support for Magic Eden’s inscription services and, in April, launched the Trio Ordinals utility token using the BRC-20 Bitcoin token standard.

Undoubtedly, OrdinalsBot’s innovative approach and strategic collaborations have paved the way for unparalleled achievements in the realm of Bitcoin inscriptions, solidifying its position as a trailblazer in this burgeoning field.
