Pixar Fest at Disneyland Resort
Pixar Fest is set to kick off at the Disneyland Resort, encompassing both Disney California Adventure and Disneyland in a grand celebration. The event, which will run until August 4, boasts a variety of entertainment offerings featuring beloved characters from popular Pixar films such as Turning Red, Elemental, Soul, and Luca.
Behind the Scenes
During a recent media preview, members of the media, including io9, had the opportunity to explore both parks and experience the magic of Pixar Fest. KC Wilkerson, the principal media designer for Disney Live Entertainment at the Disneyland Resort and show director for Together Forever—A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular, provided insights into the growth and evolution of the show.
Wilkerson shared that the revamped show now includes characters from every single Pixar film, with the original showcasing 59 characters and the new version introducing 17 more, including the five new emotions from Inside Out 2.
Highlights
One of the standout moments of the festival is a parade entitled “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!”, featuring characters from the fan-favorite 2022 film, Turning Red. The parade showcases vibrant floats, including one representing girl dads everywhere in the form of Panda Mei and her dad in a cardboard red panda costume.
Attendees can also look forward to engaging with new Pixar characters in meet and greet opportunities at interactive zones within the festival, such as “Pixar Pals Playtime Party” at Disneyland Park and Club Pixar at Disney California Adventure Park.
Interactive Experiences
Tracy Halas, the creative director of Disney Live Entertainment, revealed that fans will have the chance to hang out with Wade and Amber from Elemental, as well as Luca and Alberto at various locations throughout the festival. Additionally, the iconic characters Mr. and Mrs. Incredible will make an appearance in their new super suits, along with the lovable Dug from Up, who can now interact with visitors through his collar.
For devoted Pixar enthusiasts, an Easter egg scavenger hunt awaits, where hidden objects inspired by Pixar films can be discovered throughout the resort. From Pizza Planet trucks to other cleverly placed references, the hunt promises excitement for eagle-eyed fans.
Culinary and Merchandise Offerings
Aside from the entertainment, Pixar Fest offers a gastronomic and retail experience for foodies and collectors alike. Guests can indulge in Pixar-inspired dishes and limited-time food and beverages, creatively themed around iconic films such as Luca, Ratatouille, Soul, and Inside Out. Six Pixar-themed food and beverage marketplaces will be available at Disney California Adventure Park starting May 10.
