Bitcoin’s Rare “Epic Satoshi” Inscribed with Grimes’ Voice

A Bitcoin “epic satoshi,” an exceedingly rare version of the smallest BTC denomination, was recently sold for 33.3 BTC, equivalent to around $2.1 million at that time. This extraordinary digital asset has now been utilized to inscribe an Ordinals asset with music and the AI-generated voice of the renowned Canadian electronic pop artist Grimes, also known as Claire Boucher.

The Significance of an Epic Satoshi

Referred to as an “epic satoshi” or “epic sat,” this one-of-a-kind satoshi is a coinage resulting from each Bitcoin halving. The biennial event reduces the number of Bitcoin acquired by miners in half, leading to the creation of these epic sats. Collectors often find such epic sats highly valuable, especially when combined with NFT-like Ordinals.

The Bitcoin Ordinals project, Book of Blob, successfully inscribed its artwork onto the latest epic sat with inscription number 70,634,325. This artwork, known as the “Spikes” collection, was crafted by the pseudonymous Nuro, a former doctor turned Bitcoin enthusiast and the founder of Nuro Realm, Cypherpunk Labs, and the Blob Army.

Delving into the Spikes Collection

Nuro elaborated on the “Spikes” collection, which explores the realms of the mind, brain, and reality, all while encapsulating consciousness on Bitcoin. The first piece, titled “Spike #1,” was inscribed on the epic sat collaboratively with software developers and Ordinals aficionados Eloc Remarc, Boppleton, and Steaktoshi.

This avant-garde group of experimental artists operates at the nexus of art, science, and technology, aspiring to inspire the community to venture into uncharted territories and create innovative art forms. According to Nuro, their belief is that everyone harbors an artist within them, waiting to find their medium of expression.

“Spike #1” represents the initial “neurogenerative” 3D audiovisual masterpiece within the Bitcoin Ordinals realm, incorporating Nuro’s inscribed brain data that influences the art embedded in the inscription.

Integration of Grimes’ Elf Tech AI

The incorporation of Grimes’ Elf Tech AI technology stemmed from a previous spoken word project that failed to yield the desired impact. Thanks to Eloc’s suggestion, Nuro explored Grimes’ AI voice, resulting in the creation of original art and music that leverages Grimes’ AI voice for a segment of the vocals.

Grimes, known for her rebellious cypherpunk spirit, had declared her openness to creators using her voice without constraints, asserting a 50% royalty offer for AI-generated music featuring her voice.

Despite encountering minor challenges such as downtime and upload issues, Nuro found the Elf Tech program both enjoyable and unpredictable. Unfazed by these obstacles, Nuro is a seasoned participant in the Bitcoin art sphere, having previously collaborated with Deezy Labs and Superchief Gallery to launch a dedicated San Francisco gallery for Bitcoin Ordinals art.

The Rise of EPIC•EPIC•EPIC•EPIC Rune

Following the inscription of the Spike #1 Ordinal, a derivative version known as the EPIC•EPIC•EPIC•EPIC Rune #66429 was etched using the Runes token protocol by Ordinals creator Casey Rodarmor. Since its unveiling, EPIC•EPIC•EPIC•EPIC has attracted over $1 million in trading volume on the Magic Eden marketplace, boasting a market cap of nearly $50 million at the current price of 79 satoshis (approximately $0.05 worth of Bitcoin).
