Rep. Greene’s Involvement with Trump’s Declining Media Company

Recently, it has come to light that Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene owns stock in Trump’s declining media company. When asked about the status of her stock, she declined to provide any information.

According to reports by NBC News, Greene did not disclose what has happened to her stock in Digital World Acquisition Corp., which, following a merger with Trump Media and Technology Group, has seen a significant decrease in its share price, down by at least 45% month to date.

Details of the Stock Purchase

It was revealed that Greene purchased shares of DWAC on October 22, 2021, shortly after the merger announcement. Her investment in the company ranged from $15,000 to $50,000 as per her official congressional financial disclosure filings. On the day of purchase, the DWAC stock opened trading at $118.80 and closed around $67.

The reluctance of Greene to disclose the current status of her stock raises concerns. It leaves open the possibility that she might still be holding onto the stock, incurring losses like other investors, including supporters of Donald Trump. Alternatively, there is speculation that she may have had access to confidential information due to her position as a member of Congress and might have sold off her holdings before the steep decline.

Ethical Implications and Obligations

It is unsettling that a sitting member of Congress is associated with investments in the business of an ex-president and current political figure. The situation raises questions about potential conflicts of interest, corruption, and even legal violations.

As a public official, Marjorie Taylor Greene has a responsibility to be transparent about her financial interests, especially those related to individuals or organizations with significant political influence. Failure to provide clarity on her Trump stock holdings only adds to the suspicion surrounding the issue.

In the interest of upholding ethical standards and maintaining public trust, Representative Greene should address concerns regarding her involvement with Trump’s media company and provide the necessary information to the American people.
