Shortly after this incident, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene indeed filed a motion to vacate against Speaker Johnson. Prior to the official submission, Greene expressed her discontent with the government funding bill on the House floor.
No Republican in good conscience can vote for the uniparty minibus.
This is not a Republican bill. It is a Chuck Schumer, Democrat-controlled bill coming from the “Republican-controlled” House.

Greene’s threats against Speaker Johnson have been ongoing for months, yet there might be a chance for Johnson to retain his position. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries hinted at the possibility of saving Johnson through a vote on aid for Ukraine. Although Democrats wouldn’t align as a caucus to support Johnson, individual members might have the liberty to vote according to their beliefs. This could provide enough support to ensure Johnson’s continuation as Speaker.
While the motion to vacate could introduce chaos into the House proceedings, it seems increasingly likely that this will come to fruition. Allies of Rep. Greene have hinted to reporters to “tune in” to the House floor, indicating that significant developments may be on the horizon. The political landscape within the House of Representatives appears poised for an intriguing turn of events.
