Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) Criticizes House Speaker Over Spending Bill

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) recently expressed strong disapproval towards current House Speaker Mike Johnson for what she described as his “complete betrayal of Republican voters across the country.” Greene’s criticism stemmed from the House’s recent passage of a $1.2 trillion spending bill, filled with what she called disastrous liberal policies, aimed at averting a government shutdown.

The Gateway Pundit reported that Greene took action by filing a Motion to Vacate the chair and urged for the removal of Mike Johnson as House Speaker after the bill received more support from Democrats than Republicans. The vote, which resulted in a 286 to 134 tally, saw 185 Democrats and 101 Republicans voting ‘yay.’ Subsequently, the bill was approved by the Democrat-controlled Senate.

The 1,000-page bill was unveiled to the public at 2:32 am on Thursday, a timing that Greene contends violated the 72-hour rule, mandating that the text of a bill or resolution be accessible to members for at least 72 hours before a vote.

Bill Provisions and Controversies

The bill in question has ignited further controversy due to its provisions that Greene asserts leave the border vulnerable to illegal immigrants and perpetuate the transportation of millions of unauthorized individuals across the United States. Additionally, the allocation of funds for abortions up until birth and for youth transgender or LGBTQ programs has drawn significant criticism.

Furthermore, The Biden Regime was reported by The Gateway Pundit to have launched a federal gun-grab operation after the bill’s passage, aiming to restrict firearm access for individuals deemed a threat to themselves and others.

Additional Insights from Fox News

The bill, consisting of 1,012 pages and released around 2:30 am on Thursday, includes earmarks for controversial LGBTQ+ facilities and a late-term abortion clinic. Notable proposals within the bill feature funding for LGBTQ youth programs and a study designated for firearm injury and mortality prevention, among others.

For instance, Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s submission requested a substantial amount for a facility known as Briarpatch Youth Services, offering programs like “Teens Like Us LGBTQIA2s+” and a ‘Gender Affirming Clothing Program.’ Moreover, a National Institutes of Health (NIH) study focusing on firearm injury and mortality prevention has also been proposed.

The House of Representatives is set to go on a two-week recess, delaying any immediate actions related to vacating the chair. However, Republican voters are encouraged to engage in communication with their Representatives’ offices during this period to express their views on the matter.

Greene’s Critique and Call for Change

During an interview with One America News Network, Greene elaborated on her decision to introduce the Motion to Vacate against House Speaker Johnson. She emphasized the perceived betrayal of the Republican voter base and underscored the need for a new Speaker capable of upholding Republican values and priorities.

Greene highlighted concerns regarding the bill’s content, particularly condemning its facilitation of funding for controversial causes at the expense of critical Republican stances. The restriction imposed on amendments during the bill’s voting process was a focal point of discontent among Republican members, reflecting a larger sentiment of exasperation with Speaker Johnson’s leadership.

Expressing her commitment to the democratic process, Greene stressed the necessity of choosing a Speaker who can effectively advocate for the Republican majority and address the pressing issues facing the American people.

Despite acknowledging Speaker Johnson’s personal qualities, Greene emphasized the importance of leadership characteristics required during a crucial election year. She urged her colleagues to engage with their constituents and reflect on the implications of the recent events, emphasizing the need for a Speaker capable of navigating the challenges ahead.
