The Conclusion of Saga Network’s Airdrop Campaign

The Saga network is on the brink of finalizing its airdrop campaign, a significant event for the layer-1 chain that boasts a strong gaming community. The campaign is slated to conclude at 12:00 UTC on Wednesday, March 27, leaving only a brief window for eligible users to secure their rewards.

Beginning in December 2023 and extending into early 2024, Saga implemented a “play-to-airdrop” initiative as part of a three-phase plan to distribute rewards to players, DeFi stakers, and NFT holders. Players engaged in specific games were eligible for an airdrop of Saga’s native token, SAGA, which will be utilized on the upcoming Saga blockchain mainnet. In collaboration with games on other networks such as Solana and Avalanche, Saga extended rewards to participants beyond its own testnet.

Furthermore, an additional pool was set aside for DeFi stakers operating on Celestia, Avalanche, and Polygon. With over 200,000 wallets qualifying for the airdrop in the initial phases, both players and DeFi enthusiasts have had the opportunity to benefit. A comprehensive list of eligible DeFi stakers can be accessed here.

Saga’s airdrop campaign underscores its commitment to serving as a prominent on-chain platform for blockchain gaming, positioning itself as a complement to existing layer-1 networks. Across the campaign’s duration, a total of 60 million SAGA tokens will be distributed, solidifying Saga’s dedication to its vision.

Expansion of Eligibility Criteria

Recently, Saga expanded the list of eligible recipients to include holders of select NFT projects such as the Bored Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, and Bad Kids. If you fall under any of these categories, it is imperative to act swiftly. Ensure to verify your eligibility through the Saga portal and claim your tokens prior to the looming deadline at 12:00 UTC on Wednesday.

Data released by Saga on Tuesday revealed that a considerable number of users have yet to claim their SAGA tokens, with only a mere 8% of eligible Avalanche users having completed the process. In stark contrast, a striking 80% of Celestia users have successfully navigated through the claiming process, illustrating a significant variance across the diverse crypto ecosystems incorporated into the airdrop.

At the recent Game Developers Conference, Saga disclosed its plans to launch the mainnet in April, signaling the imminent release of the token. Notably, Saga will pioneer its own game publishing division, a groundbreaking move that distinguishes it as the inaugural layer-1 chain to embark on such an endeavor.
