Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series Coming to Netflix

Warner Bros., despite having its own streaming service, is set to bring the iconic Scooby-Doo franchise to Netflix with a live-action series. This upcoming project, titled Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, will be produced by Greg Berlanti, a notable name in the entertainment industry with successful Netflix projects such as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Dead Boy Detectives.

Details of the Series

The information regarding the new series was revealed by Deadline, mentioning that it will be a “reimagining” of the beloved animated classic. The series secured its spot on Netflix after facing tough competition from other platforms. The script for the show will be penned by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, known for their work on the Netflix adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. Additionally, both Appelbaum and Rosenberg serve as executive producers on Prime Video’s Citadel and MGM+’s From.

If you’ve been following Berlanti’s work, you may recognize him as the mastermind behind the Arrowverse on the CW network and the intriguing drama series Riverdale.

History of Scooby-Doo

The Scooby-Doo franchise has a rich history, dating back to 1969. While the iconic characters have appeared in various animated iterations over the years, the most prominent live-action adaptation was the 2002 feature film and its sequel. Despite their long-standing presence in the entertainment industry, the gang’s latest project will find a home on Netflix rather than the expected platform, Max.

Interestingly, Netflix recently premiered the second season of Velma, an animated spin-off of Scooby-Doo produced by Mindy Kaling.

Excitement is brewing among fans as they eagerly anticipate the casting for the new live-action series. Share your dream cast suggestions in the comments section below!
