Tricia McLean, the esteemed Chief Financial Officer of the Seattle Storm, tragically passed away following a sudden medical emergency, as announced by the WNBA team on Thursday. At the age of 61, McLean left a lasting impact on the organization and the Seattle sports community.
McLean’s tenure with the Storm began when she was appointed as the Vice President of Finance and Human Resources after the team was acquired by the Force 10 Hoops ownership group to ensure its presence in Seattle. In 2014, she was rightfully promoted to the position of CFO, showcasing her exceptional leadership and expertise.
Ginny Gilder, co-owner of the Storm, expressed deep sorrow over McLean’s untimely passing, emphasizing her indispensable role within the organization as part of the leadership team and as a cherished colleague and friend to many.
During McLean’s stewardship, the Seattle Storm secured three of their four WNBA titles in 2010, 2018, and 2022, achieving remarkable financial success under her guidance.
