Sheldon Johnson, Criminal Justice Advocate, Arrested on Murder Charges
Sheldon Johnson, a 48-year-old former criminal justice reform advocate who gained attention after appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast, has been arrested on charges of murder after a decapitated head and limbless torso were discovered in his Bronx apartment.
Johnson, who recently completed a 25-year prison sentence, used his platform on the Joe Rogan podcast to shed light on the injustices prevalent in the U.S. justice system, particularly racial biases.
Arrest and Discovery of Gruesome Scene
The arrest of Johnson has shattered the positive image he once portrayed as a symbol of reform and redemption. Officers from the Bronx’s 44th Precinct came across a harrowing sight when they responded to a call at Johnson’s residence. Inside the apartment, they found a human torso in a blue bin and a severed head stored in the freezer. Reports from neighbors indicated cries for help followed by gunshots, prompting the authorities to conduct a welfare check and unveil the gruesome revelation.
Johnson, who was employed by the public law firm Queens Defenders, has been taken into custody without bail, as reported by the New York Post.
Victim Identification and Further Evidence
The victim, identified as Collin Small, aged 44, had a troubled history with Johnson dating back to their incarceration at Sing Sing prison. Johnson maintained his innocence to the media when being apprehended. However, incriminating evidence surfaced, including additional dismembered limbs discovered in his apartment and surveillance footage capturing him in disguise near the crime scene.
