Star Trek: The Experience: Klingon Encounter (Best Version)

One of the most memorable experiences at Star Trek: The Experience was the “Klingon Encounter” attraction. Unlike typical simulator rides, guests were treated to a unique and immersive journey. They were “beamed” up through a stunning light and motion illusion, complete with moving wall panels and bursts of air, before being transported onto a full-scale replica of the bridge of The Next Generation’s Enterprise-D.

This innovative approach to storytelling is reminiscent of Galaxy’s Edge’s flagship ride, Rise of the Resistance, where visitors are tricked into believing they have been transported onto a transport ship and then onto a Star Destroyer. In the case of “Klingon Encounter,” guests were greeted by pre-recorded messages from Jonathan Frakes’ character, Will Riker, informing them that one of their group was a direct descendant of Jean-Luc Picard. They were also warned that the Klingons were attempting to alter the timeline by erasing Captain Picard from existence by targeting his family lineage.

Visitors then embarked on a thrilling journey through the corridors of the Enterprise, encountering Klingon saboteurs in a turbolift before boarding the simulator “shuttlecraft” with Geordi LaForge. The ride simulated a journey back to their original time and back to Las Vegas, creating the illusion of time and space travel. As the experience came to an end, a farewell message from Picard was delivered, and guests were “dumped” back on Earth, albeit in a slightly altered state.

This version of the “Klingon Encounter” at Star Trek: The Experience offered guests a truly unique and unforgettable adventure, blending cutting-edge technology with immersive storytelling to create a one-of-a-kind experience in the world of Star Trek.
