Stephen Colbert Mocks Trump’s Lack of Preparedness in Speeches

During a recent segment on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ Colbert humorously highlighted the apparent lack of preparation in Donald Trump’s speeches. Colbert showed clips of Trump seemingly surprised by the content of his own speeches, indicating that Trump may not have read them before delivering them.

One clip showed Trump stating, “You know, we won this state. We won this state by a lot. And it came out that we won this state, actually.” Colbert responded by joking that it was bold to claim victory in a state that was actually lost, comparing it to an awkward encounter with an ex-partner.

Another clip played by Colbert featured Trump claiming, “Remember, 10:00. Everyone’s calling me. They’re saying, ‘Congratulations, sir.’ And then at 3:02 in the morning, a lot of dumps happened.” Colbert humorously remarked on Trump’s use of the phrase “a lot of dumps,” implying that it was a regular occurrence for the former president.

Throughout the segment, Colbert drew attention to Trump’s reliance on teleprompters and his apparent lack of familiarity with the content of his speeches. Colbert suggested that Trump reads the words like a bad actor in need of cue cards to remember his lines, highlighting the lack of authenticity in his delivery.

Furthermore, Colbert remarked on the irony of the Republican Party selecting a presidential nominee who struggles to form coherent thoughts off-script. Trump’s recent campaign appearances have been criticized for their lackluster delivery, with his performance on the first day of campaigning in weeks being deemed a disaster.

As Trump faces an upcoming criminal trial on April 15, Colbert humorously suggested that Trump’s campaign should consider putting him back into hiding until the legal proceedings are resolved.
