Annual Studio Ghibli Fest Returns with Expanded Lineup
Last year, GKids and Fathom Events collaborated to re-release nine of Hayao Miyazaki’s iconic films, marking the most successful Studio Ghibli Fest to date. This year, the tradition continues with an expanded roster of films for fans to enjoy on the big screen.
Expanding the Selection
Building on the success of the 2023 Studio Ghibli Fest, this year’s event will showcase a total of 14 movies in both subtitled and dubbed formats. While last year’s lineup focused solely on Miyazaki’s works, this year’s selection will also feature films from directors Yoshifumi Kondo, Hiroyuki Morita, and Hiromasa Yonebayashi. The festival promises additional content throughout the year, including special celebrations for the anniversaries of films such as Kiki’s Delivery Service, Pom Poko, and Howl’s Moving Castle.
Exciting Lineup
The festival kicks off with screenings of classics like Spirited Away, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and Castle in the Sky. Other notable films on the schedule include Princess Mononoke, Ponyo, and The Tale of Princess Kaguya, among others. The festival will conclude with a screening of My Neighbor Totoro on December 11.
Anticipated Success
Citing the overwhelming success of last year’s marathon, Fathom CEO Ray Nutt expressed excitement about the enduring legacy of Studio Ghibli films. Fans can expect an exciting lineup this year, with the collaboration between Fathom and GKIDS promising to deliver more of what fans love.
