Ethereum NFT Marketplace SuperRare Expands to Bitcoin with Killer Acid’s Ordinals Collection

SuperRare, a San Diego-based Ethereum blockchain-backed platform known for single-edition, 1-of-1 digital art, has announced its foray into the world of Bitcoin. This expansion includes a new collection of Ordinals inscriptions by the artist Killer Acid, marking a significant milestone in the platform’s evolution.

The collaboration between SuperRare and Bitcoin Ordinals marketplace Gamma sets the stage for a unique collection set to debut on April 11, 2024. Named “No Brainers,” this collection will feature exclusively 1-of-1 inscriptions, ensuring that each piece of art is distinct and unparalleled.

The Vision Behind Killer Acid’s Artistry

Renowned artist Rob Corradetti, better known as Killer Acid, brings a signature psychedelic flair to his creations. While the specific artworks from “No Brainers” are yet to be unveiled, the anticipation surrounding this collection is palpable, building upon the success of Killer Acid’s “Crypto Art” minted on SuperRare in 2022.

Zack Yanger, SVP of SuperRare Labs, shared insights into the platform’s strategic decision to incorporate Ordinals. Acknowledging the initial skepticism surrounding this venture, Yanger emphasized the remarkable progress made within the Ordinals ecosystem and its potential to revolutionize the digital art landscape.

Bitcoin’s Ascendancy in the NFT Realm

Despite Ethereum’s dominance in NFT trading, Bitcoin has emerged as a formidable contender thanks to the Ordinals protocol introduced in the previous year. This shift has not gone unnoticed, with the Ordinals trading platform reshaping market dynamics and attracting top-tier talent to the Bitcoin network.

Nick Sainato, co-founder of Bitcoin NFT marketplace Gamma, extolled the virtues of Ordinals and its role in propelling Bitcoin to new heights within the digital asset space. Expressing enthusiasm for SuperRare’s integration with Bitcoin, Sainato highlighted the platform’s commitment to fostering artistic creativity and financial empowerment.

SuperRare’s dedication to supporting artists through royalties has been a cornerstone of its ethos. Co-founder Jonathan Perkins reiterated the platform’s unwavering stance on artist royalties, emphasizing the importance of compensating artists for their contributions and preserving a standard of excellence within the NFT ecosystem.
