Taylor Swift’s Private Jet Targeted by Climate Protesters

Taylor Swift is currently in the U.K. for the latest leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour, where she’s no doubt improving the economy, increasing public transport ridership, and putting on a stunning show. However, she made headlines this Friday not for her performances but because climate protesters attempted to spray paint her private jet.

A pair of protesters from U.K. environmental group Just Stop Oil broke into Stansted Airport to the north of the UK capital, London, Thursday morning, reports Sky News. The activists, identified as Jennifer Kowalski, 28, and Cole Macdonald, 22, cut through the airport’s perimeter fence and covered two private jets in orange paint.

In a post on X, the activists explained that they targeted the airfield just after Swift’s jet had landed, aiming to raise awareness for the need to end fossil fuel usage by 2030. While their intentions were noble, they mistakenly painted another billionaire’s private plane, missing Swift’s entirely.

Swift has three shows as part of her worldwide Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium in London on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with uncertainty if her plane was among those targeted. Just Stop Oil stated, “The pair painted two private jets using fire extinguishers filled with orange paint.”

Swift’s private jet has been a topic of discussion recently, with the American singer trying to prevent a U.S. student from disclosing its location online. This has also sparked a debate among her fans as her jet’s use has positioned her as one of the country’s biggest polluters.

Many argue that Swift could opt for public transportation like the rest of us, but the chaos that follows her suggests otherwise. Environmental concerns are valid, but disrupting the wrong jet may not be the most effective way to convey the message.
