Instead of tackling intergalactic threats and global conflicts, the team finds themselves as fugitives falsely accused of mass murders within the Ultimate Universe and Ultimate Invasion backdrop. Camp draws a parallel to WWII Partisans, describing them as “a resistance network in occupied territory constantly under threat due to their outlawed status.”
Expanding the Roster and Stakes
Stark’s ambitious plan to construct a superhero resistance network drives the narrative, with each installment introducing an Ultimate Universe adaptation of a Marvel hero. While the debut issue focuses on Ant-Man and the Wasp, Camp remains tight-lipped about the rest of the roster. The team faces an 18-month deadline to recruit members and combat the looming threat posed by the Maker and his Council within their personal City. Adding layers to the challenge is Tony Stark’s internal conflict, torn between the ideologies of Doom and Captain America.
