Thirdverse Raises Additional $3.3 Million in Funding for Virtual Reality Games

Thirdverse, a company specializing in virtual reality games, has successfully completed its Series D funding round by securing an additional $3.3 million. This latest investment brings the total funding raised during this round to an impressive $11.3 million.

CEO Hironao Kunimitsu had initially announced the Series D funding back in November, highlighting the company’s commitment to developing cutting-edge VR experiences. The recent influx of capital came from a third-party allotment of shares facilitated by Nissei Capital Co. and VeriServe Corp.

When taking into account the funds raised before the company’s division on May 1, Thirdverse has now amassed a cumulative total of $42 million in funding. This financial backing will enable the company to advance its development teams and enhance the infrastructure supporting its flagship VR title, X8, which was officially launched on November 9. Additionally, resources will be allocated towards the ongoing development of Soul Covenant, as well as the initiation of new projects.

Expansion and Growth in the VR Gaming Space

Thirdverse’s U.S. studio has made significant strides in the VR gaming market, with the successful launch of its multiplayer hero shooter title, X8. The game is available on popular platforms such as the Meta Quest Store, Steam Store, and PICO Store. Within a mere two months of its release, X8 has garnered over 450,000 downloads worldwide, indicating a strong reception from the gaming community.

Looking ahead, Thirdverse is gearing up to introduce its VR dramatic action title, Soul Covenant, which was first unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show 2023. The official release of Soul Covenant is scheduled for early 2024, marking another milestone for the company’s portfolio of innovative VR experiences.
